Entry #6- Struck by Lightning

When I was 13, I read a book called Struck by Lightning. It became one of my favorite books to this day. It is about a teenager in high school wanting to become a writer, but he has to go through tough obstacles in order to get into his dream school. However, that did not stop him from doing whatever he can to get into the school. Although he did not have the support from his parents or his peers, all he wanted to do was succeed.

As his parents are separated, he lives with his mother. All of his life, his mother never believed in him and never thought he was going to go anywhere; she just wanted him to stay with her and never leave. On the other hand, the teenager did not need any support from any one other than himself. However, his dream school required an original written piece that required some help. He did not have many friends, but he ran the schools newspaper club and managed to get the help he needed by forming a project. It did require some blackmailing and persuading for some of his classmates to participate, but in the end it all came together.

Once he turned in his project along with his application to his dream school, he felt that his admission to the school would be guaranteed. In fact, he was right. He did get admitted into his dream school, but his mother hid the admission from him and he thought the school just never responded. His mother later told him about the admission. He never forgave her. Long story short, he still did whatever it took for him to get into his dream school no matter what came his way and he accomplished it.

  1. Again, writing about movies that you enjoy is a great topic but you need to move beyond plot summary and include a "point" where you develop your major reasons for writing.
