Entry #2- Drums
One thing that I love to do is play drums. You might find it crazy, but I taught myself how to play the drums. I never went to any drum classes or lessons. I started playing when I was 6 years old. There was this game called RockBand on the Wii; me and my brother would play RockBand for hours. He would play the guitar and I would play the drums. That is how I got introduced to the drums and I have been addicted ever since.
When it was my 12th birthday, my dad got me an electric drum set. It was my first ever drum kit. Even though it wasn't a real set, it was more than good enough for me. I practiced every day and fell in love with it. Sometimes, when I wanted to learn a song so bad, I would get blood blisters on my hands from playing too much. I never felt the pain until I noticed that the blisters were there. Playing drums not only made my love for music grow, but it also gave me the confidence to just be myself.
Whenever I play, it feels like I am in my own world; a world where I can't be judged or told what to do, I can just be me. The more I practiced, the better I got. Whenever there was a party at my house, I would always perform for my family. Everyone was shocked about my talent and nobody knows where it came from. I don't have a musical family so this was all new to them, but they all supported me and told me that I was great drummer. I continue to play every day and just keep getting better.
What a unique and interesting talent!
